Casa San Gabriel is situated in Umbria, north of Perugia and north-east of Lago Trasimeno, the nearest town being Umbertide.
From the E45
You exit the E45 at the junction for Pierantonio.
When you come off the exit, turn to the left towards Antognolla and Pantano. Follow this road for 4.3kms, past a Mobili (furniture) shop on your right, an API service station on your left (after800ms) and then wind up the hill. At the top of the hill there is a large house with a turret on your left. Turn left off the road but not towards the house, you will see a sign to Santa Caterina up to the left which you must follow. (If you go past Antognolla Castle on your right or the turning to SanGiovanni Del Pantano you have gone to far and need to turn around). Stay on the gravel road (sorry, its a bit rough) and drive up the hill for 1.2km in total, you will pass a house on your left, then a sign to Santa Caterina on your right soon afterwards (dont take that), continue and you will come to a hard right not long afterwards, take that and then we are the first right about 200metres down the hill.
From the A1
From Florence etc, follow the A1 south in the direction of Roma. There is a service area called ‘Lucignano Ovest’ approx 90kms south of Florence. About 4kms south of this service area, there is a junction off the A1 called ‘Val di Chiana, Perugia’. Exit the A1 at this junction and branch right and follow signs towards Perugia to join the toll-free motorway Raccordo. You will see signs towards ‘Lago Trasimeno’ and Perugia. Follow the road for approx 40 kms around ‘Lago Trasimeno’ (keeping the lake on your right) in the direction of Perugia.
Turn off the road at the exit for ‘Mantignana and Corciano’, (next exit after ‘Magione’). Follow the slip road in the direction of Mantignana and Pierantonio and go under the motorway. You will reach a roundabout where you will need to go straight in the direction of ‘Pierantonio’.
Follow along the road,always taking signs for ‘Pierantonio’ ‘Antognolla’ and ‘Umbertide’. (You will not turn off this main road until you reach the turning for our house.)
After 13 kms (8.1miles) you will reach the hamlet of ‘S.Giovanni Del Pantano. Carry on through Pantano (not taking the left turn to the centre of the hamlet), and you will see the exit signs for Pantano. (Approx 1km after you have left Pantano you will see the castle of ‘Antognolla’ on the hill to the left, but if it is dark you may not be able to see it). Follow along the road, which will veers to the left and then approx 4kms (2.4miles) after youhave left Pantano you will see a large house with a turret on your right. Immediately after the house on the right is a turning off the main road to ag ravel road (Bianca Strada). There is a sign for Santa Caterina, turn to the left in the direction of Santa Caterina. Stay on the gravel road (sorry, its a bit rough) and drive up the hill for 1.2km in total, you will pass a house on your left, then a sign to Santa Caterina on your right soon afterwards (dont take that), continue and you will come to a hard right not long afterwards, take that and then we are the firstr ight about 200metres down the hill.
(If you reach Pierantonioyou have gone too far and need to turn around. Take the signs for Antognolla and Pantano and follow the road for 4.3kms, past a Mobili shop on your right, an API service station on your left (after 800ms) and winding up the hill. At the top of the hill there is a large housewith a turret on your left. Turn leftoff the road but not towards the house, you will see a sign to Santa Caterinaup to the left which you must follow.)
From Forli Airport
When you leave Forli turn right out of the airport. Follow the small road till you meet the intersection of a main road. At the main road turn right in the direction of Cesena / Rimini / Roma.
Follow this road always taking the signs to the E45 in the direction of Roma, for approx 11kms. Before you reach Cesena you will follow the sign onto the E45 motorway. Once you are on the E45 you follow the road South for 1 to 1.5hours, passing Sarsina, Sansepolcro, Citta Di Castello and Umbertide. (Umbertide from Forli is approximately150kms.) Continue with directions from the E45.
From Bologna Airport
When leaving Bologna airport take signs to Milano / Firenze to join the Bologna ring road. After approx 3.5kms you will reach the junction for Bologna Casalecchio di Reno, at this junction carry on going straight. After another 3.5kms you will reach thej unction with the A1, keep left and join the A1 at this point. Follow the A1 south in the direction of Roma for approx 120kms. Continue with directions from the A1.
From Pisa Airport
When leaving Pisa airport take signs to Firenze. When you reach Firenze, take the ring road south and follow signs for the A1 south to Roma. Continue with directions from the A1.
From Roma Ciampino Airport
Leave Roma Ciampino Airport and continue forward onto Via Francesco Baracca, at the Piazza Francesco Baracca roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Piazza Francesco Baracca which is signposted Roma Centro, Via Appia and Austrade. At the next roundabout take the 1st exit on Via Appia Nuova which is signposted Roma Centro and Autostrade. Carry on forward to join the E80 motorway, and after approx 12 kms bear left onto Grande Raccordo Anulare which is signposted SS5 Via Tiburtina, Roma Nord and Firenze.
After approx 10 kms you will join the ‘Autostrada Del Sole –A1DIR motorway which is signposted to Firenze. Continue forward and you will join the A1 toll motorway.
Approx 85 kms from the airport there is an exit off the A1 to the E45. At this point you need to bear right and merge onto the E45 which is signposted to E45 Orte, Terni, Perugia and Viterbo. (it may be a good idea to note your km’s when you leave the airport and then you will know when to expect the E45 turn)
Carry along the E45 in the direction of Cesena and Perugia. Follow the E45 round north of Perugia in the direction of Cesena and then turn off the E45 at the Pierantonio exit, which is north of Perugia
Continue with directions from the E45.
From Ancona Airport
When you leave Ancona, immediatelylook out for signs to SS76 in the direction of Jesi and Roma, you will be going away from Ancona itself. You stay on this road for approx one hour, it initially is a dual carriageway and then turns into a single carriageway road and you go through approx 22 small tunnels.
Follow this road past ‘Grotte di Frasassi’ and Fabriano. After Fabriano you will come to a t-junction off the SS76 for the E3. At this point turn left and then soon afterwards there is a road to right in the direction of Gubbio which is the S219. Take this small road to Gubbio at ‘Osteria del Gatto’, which takes you through Branca. You will then reach the ring road around Gubbio, stay on this ring road until you get to a roundabout, where you need to go left on the S219 again – in the direction of ‘Perugia, Rome and Umbertide’. (If you go straight at this roundabout it is in the direction of Urbino). This is a windy road that you first go past an ugly cement factory on the right and then little villages for approx 20 kms. Take signs for the E45 and when you reach it, join it going south in the direction of Perugia. Stay on the E45 for only one junction and you get off at the ‘Pierantonio’ exit. Continue with directions from the E45.
From Perugia Airport
When you leave the airport gates turn right in the direction of Perugia. At the first t-junction turn left towards A1 Firenze and Roma ( a green sign). Carry along the country road through the village of‘Collestrada’. Follow the road which turns to the left and goes over a small bridge. Cross over this bridge (train line) and follow the road round to the right in the direction of Perugia. This small road takes you on to the maindual-carriageway, stay in the right hand lane of the dual-carriageway and you need to immediately exit the dual-carriageway (to the right) in the direction of ‘Cesena’ and ‘Ravenna’.
You will then be on the main road E45 in the direction of Cesena and A14. Carry along the E45 in the direction of Cesena then turn off the E45 at the Pierantonio exit, which is approx 15 mins north.
Continue with directions from the E45.
